    Neonanduria bolauana Giant African Twig mantis

    Neodanuria bolauana is a large species from Africa. They are in the same family as Popa spurca twig mantises and look like larger, elongate versions of that species.

    Such an interesting and unique species. Definitely a favorite!

    Female ca. 10cm- 12cm
    Lifespan Male 8 (5 + 3) months / ~ 8 moltings
    Female 13 (5 + 8) months / ~ 8 moltings
    Sexing Male smaller and thinner than the females
    adult: pearl-cordy and long antennas, wings cover ca. 2/3 of the abdomen
    Female L5 and above: on the upper side of the abdomen are 3 big "thorns", more compact than males
    adult: reduced wings, short and thin antennas
